Thomson House
The existing roof line of this heritage railway cottage facing the sea in New Plymouth has been stretched to its Western side by 4 metres to create a new bedroom, an ensuite and a mezzanine office space. A resulting double height living area not only provides a more spacious living, but allows more natural daylight to penetrate the whole house, creating a more light environment. A slatted redwood pelmet clads part of the existing facade of the cottage, tying in the new build with the old.
